Description:
This two-day institute explores how schools can use intercultural dialogue to engage their communities, navigate contested issues, and advance strategic goals. Intercultural dialogue is a proven pedagogy that helps students and faculty listen with empathy, share perspectives respectfully, and strengthen belonging across differences. Drawing on three years of research and practice with school leaders, this institute highlights model practices in dialogue design, implementation, and facilitation. Participants will learn to develop mission-aligned dialogue skills for their school context and to design a program to cultivate these skills among students and faculty. Examples from diverse school contexts will provide multiple entry points, including for schools with limited budgets or resources. All participants receive a copy of Intercultural Dialogue: A Field Guide for Educators & Schools.

Key Areas:

  • What intercultural dialogue is and is not
